On our 1 day workshop experience you will get to grips with all of the main hand tools in the tool box. After that, we put your new skills to work on three quick fire wood working projects. It’s our most popular course, and a great way to get started with traditional hand tools!

No one goes hungry on a Lula James Workshop! We will keep you energised with tasty snacks, teas, coffees and soft drinks throughout the day. Come lunchtime expect a sandwich buffet. It will be an intense day so you need to stay fuelled!

Meet at 9:15am for Tea, coffee, pastries and introduction.
We normally get the biscuits out for a short morning tea break around 11am and we provide lunch at 1pm. The day finishes around 4:30pm but if you require a little extra time we are usually able to accommodate.
- Choose a timber from a limited selection and use a jack plane to create a door wedge.
- Learn about marking up and sawing to create a phone stand keyring out of your choice of timber.
- Learn all about the halving joint.
- Create a small plant stand building on all the skills learnt in the day. We aim to get the plant stands glued up and we will give you advice sand paper to take away with you to finish off at home.
Tools used: Jack Plane, marking knife, marking gauge, Japanese saw, cabinet maker’s chisels.

Lula James ltd courses are designed with adult learners in mind nevertheless we do welcome secondary school age pupils so long as they are accompanied by a parent or guardian who is also enrolled in the course and takes full responsibility for the young person.

All young people are different and some may find it hard to focus for a 4 day course, the 1 & 2 day courses are faster paced with quicker end satisfaction which will suit some teens better.
